TRAVEL and ACCOMMODATION
Our primary airline of choice for travel to India is Air New Zealand. Currently travel is from Auckland to Singapore, with a stop-over in Singapore before transferring to their Star Alliance partner, Singapore Airlines, for travel across to New Delhi.
Approximate flight times are 10 hours to Singapore, 5 hours to New Delhi.
Depending on the length of stopover in Singapore, temporary accommodation can be arranged for you at one of the Hotels either within or close to Changi Singapore airport.
At all times, a member of International Surgery will accompany you to and from New Delhi and be with you for your pre-operative procedures at Fortis Memorial and again post-operatively.
You will be provided with a phone so you can get in touch with our team at any time while in New Delhi and for calls back to family and friends in New Zealand.
There are various levels of accommodation in New Delhi ranging from the 5 star TAJ Hotel, 200 metres from the Hospital, to other quality 3,4 and 5 star accommodation, also close to the Fortis Hospital facility. All transport to and from Fortis Memorial will be provided.
As you will be travelling for a medical or surgical procedure and post-op recovery , sight-seeing, travel and shopping are not recommended unless approved by your Surgeon and organised by International Surgery. It is our objective to provide our patients with the quickest time away from NZ.
However, there are some magnificent resorts, palaces and sightseeing opportunities in India and if your Surgeon agrees, International Surgery can arrange options if required.
There are always facilities for a patient to have a family member or friends to travel with them and Fortis Memorial do have excellent facilities within the Hospital to cater for caregivers and patients, including an International lounge, 4 x restaurants/cafes and a waiting area with recliner chairs. Depending on your procedure and the type of room you choose, your attendant may be able to stay in hospital with you.
